I'm baaaaaaaaack!

Let me catch you up on my life. I had another baby. He's now 1 (well, 17 months old tomorrow, if you want to be specific).  Besides that, everything else in my life is very similar. I have the same job. And I still love life. I'll be updating far more often, however.

A Pointless First!

Heidi has been busy impressing us this days. Still not crawling, and still not sitting up completely unsupported for anything more than about 2 minutes. But she did do one completely pointless first this last week!

... She sat up in a shopping cart without her car seat!

Yes, that is her at Home Depot. We are in the midst of preparing/prepping for our kitchen reno we are bravely undertaking ourselves. I should know better considering I've done this before in the Mesa condo and I know how much work it is and how much it sucks. But I also know how much I don't want to pay someone to do work I know I can do. We are also undertaking a landscaping project. That is one thing neither of us have done. But I'm sure we'll figure it out -- with the help of the Boy Scouts (the perks of your husband being the Asst. Scoutmaster).

Seven Months!

Little Heidi turned 7 months old. Time sure is flying. Daddy is busy working hard these days. We've decided that Daddy needs to go back to school. It just wouldn't feel right in our marriage if one of us wasn't in grad school. So now Justin will be working on an MBA in Accounting (cough ..nerd.. cough). Mommy, plans to be done with school forever. Forever. Heidi is too young to care about school yet, although I anticipate her entering grad school soon. Now sure what field yet, so far she is pretty good at grabbing hair and snuggling.

7 month stats:

Likes:

• Snuggles
• Eating 3 meals a day (rice cereal for breakfast, baby food for lunch/dinner, with lots of bottles between)
• "Petting" the pug
• Bouncing in the bouncer
• Going to bed at 7:30, waking up at 5:30
• Grabbing hair
• Sitting w/ a little bit of support or prop sitting

Dislikes:

• Teething
• Having to wait for her bottle, or getting her bottle taken away when it's not finished
• Getting nails clipped
• Being in car seat for too long

Heidi has really been an amazing baby.  She loves all baby food these days, even peas! She especially enjoys anything w/ apple or pear in it. She has overcome her severe constipation. We changed her formula and loaded her up on prunes and it solved itself, thankfully. She sleeps 10-12 hours a night depending on my work schedule and when I need to wake her up (I usually get her up at 5:30am).

Justin and I had a weight loss competition. Over the course of 10 weeks we fought it out to see who could lose the highest percentage of weight loss. And I won. My prize is that Justin has a get Heidi ready for daycare this week.  It works out great because I get to sleep in an extra 30 minutes, and Heidi gets to sleep about another hour. It's a win-win for all. Except perhaps Justin who now has to wake up earlier.

6 months!

Yes, it has been a long time since I've updated. But I've repented and here I am again. Heidi has turned 6 months old. Time sure flies.

She started eating baby food!

She is still regularly bathed. Phew, I know you were worried.

16 lbs 11 oz

26.5 inches

Likes:

• Eating baby food! Especially: sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, and prunes
• She still loves swinging in her swing
• Sleeping on her belly
• Holding her own bottle
• Sleeping for 10 hours each night (and her parents like it, too)

Dislikes:

• Peas.
• Teething (she has 3 teeth coming in currently, and she is mildly miserable)
• Strangers (she has a severe case of 'Stranger Danger')
• The heat

3 months!

Heidi turns 3 months old tomorrow. It is hard to believe how quickly time is flying by. Our first quarter-year with Heidi has been magical.

Things Heidi likes at 3 months:

• Staring at the television
• Sitting up and looking at the world
• Sleeping 8 full hours at night (Mommy likes this, too!)
•  Cuddling with her parents
• Coming home from daycare
• Her toy keys
• Sucking her thumb
• Swinging in her swing
• The sound of the box fan on high (Of course, we can't hear anything else going on, but it keeps her happy)

Things Heidi does NOT like at 3 months:

• Car rides
• Not getting enough naps
• Getting off her schedule
• Did I mention car rides? She really really hates car rides.

 She has officially outgrown all her 3-month size clothing, and size 1 diapers. My little girl is growing up. She has been very pleasant and calm, and has been sleeping 8 hours a night for the last week. She really has been the world's best baby. Just the last couple days she has gotten crankier. I think she might be teething. According to some research I've done, babies can have symptoms of teething like a month before a tooth actually erupts. All I know is my poor baby is fairly miserable. We'll see how these next few days play out.

Heidi had to go in and have her heel pricked again today. Her newborn screen was funky so they are redoing it. She wasn't overly excited about it. She got measured and weighed again, and interestingly, she has gained 8 oz in the last 2 weeks. Impressive. She is pretty much too big for most her 3 month size clothing, and the size 1 diapers are starting to get a little bit snug. I hope we can make it awhile longer in the size ones ... mostly because we still have a full economy sized box of them :)

Heidi has started daycare and I went back to work last week. It's been an interesting transition, but everything seems to be going well so far ... for both of us. I am blessed to have a job I absolutely love. Heidi's daycare seems to be legit, they keep her well fed and change her diaper so that is good. I've decided that after kid #2 I would like to try to move to part time work, if it is economically feasible for us, at least until we've popped out all our kids and they are in school. We'll see where we are at when that time comes (not for awhile).

Heidi went swimming for the first time last weekend! We went up to Lake Havasu for the weekend because Justin was running a half marathon there and I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to introduce Heidi to the wonderful world of swimming.

All in all, Heidi enjoyed her first swimming excursion. She even went all the way under water, and didn't cry or anything. Makes me wish we had a pool at our house. We might have to invest in one of those $10 kiddie pools so Heidi can splash around this summer. It's already almost 100 degrees as it is.
